Gulf Breeze Florida is a waterfront community of over 6,000 residents that prides itself on its small-town character, quality education, and superb recreational facilities. Gulf Breeze is located between Navarre and Pensacola on the end of Fairpoint Peninsula in Santa Rosa County, just minutes from the emerald green waters of the Gulf of Mexico and the City of Pensacola. Gulf Breeze enjoys 18 miles of waterfront and three protected bayous. The city also has more than 53% of its land dedicated to parks – more than any other city its size. Fishing, boating, shopping, dining, and golfing can all be enjoyed year round.
Gulf Breeze shares a rich history with the entire Florida Panhandle. In 1559, Tristan de Luna arrived in Pensacola Bay with 500 Spanish soldiers. The first settlement was abandoned due to diseases, disasters and hostile Indians, but other Europeans followed. In the late 1700’s, the British occupied the peninsula and named it Town Point. The name Gulf Breeze was derived from the Gulf Breeze Cottages and Store located in the area. The first post office in Gulf Breeze was opened in 1936.
The City of Gulf Breeze is located on the end of the Fairpoint peninsula in Santa Rosa County. Gulf Breeze is separated on the North by a three mile bridge across Pensacola Bay from the City of Pensacola and the South by the Bob Sikes Bridge over Santa Rosa Sound to Pensacola Beach. On the East, landward up the peninsula is the 1,329 acre Naval Live Oaks portion of the Gulf Islands National Seashore. As a result, residents enjoy a quiet residential community just a few minutes from the Gulf of Mexico and the City of Pensacola.
Gulf Breeze climate is hot during summer when temperatures tend to be in the 80's and cool during winter when temperatures tend to be in the 50's.
The warmest month of the year is July with an average maximum temperature of 90 degrees Fahrenheit, while the coldest month of the year is January with an average minimum temperature of 43 degrees Fahrenheit. Rainfall in is fairly evenly distributed throughout the year. The wettest month of the year is July with an average rainfall of 8.02 Inches.
