Pace is a satellite community of Pensacola. Located in Santa Rosa County, it is one of the fastest growing communities in Northwest Florida. Abundant waterfront homes make this upper bay community very special for water enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. William Barnett founded Pace, previously known as Florida Town, in 1821. Barrnett owned a timber mill, and the rich timberland fed the mill. Florida Town was renamed in 1907 by Mr. James C. Pace, who built a new mill and renamed the town after his namesake.
Pace is the western gateway to Santa Rosa County. With thousands of residents living in Pace and more pouring in daily, this unincorporated area within Santa Rosa County is Florida’s most desired places to live. Pace’s location is easily accessible to Milton (Santa Rosa County seat) and Pensacola (30 minutes) with many residents commuting back and forth to work.
The climate of Pace is humid with short, mild winters and hot, summers; however, there are plenty of green vegetation and water inlets to cool things down during the summer day.The average annual temperate is 66.5 degrees, with the coldest month being January and the warmest being July. While the area has year-long mild temperatures, you will catch a fleeting glimpse of all four seasons. A light winter coat may be needed in the colder months, while just a light jacket will get you through the early spring and late fall evenings.
Pace has a small selection of nice and unique local stores and a convenient shopping center that offers a wide array of shopping options as well as restaurants. Only a short drive away, you find the large choice of boutiques, galleries and specialty shops in Pensacola downtown or at Pensacola Beach.
